Meet Miss Teba!

Meet sweet Teba. Teba is a 5 year old, blue merle Great Dane. Teba has never known the comforts of a soft bed, grass under her feet, toys to play with, or food to eat. Teba was surrender to us by her owner, because she just didn't want her anymore.

When we picked up Teba, she was in a 8 x 10 run on a concrete slab. We were told by her owner that when Teba was 6 months old, she became too large for her to handle so she put her in the pen outside. That is where sweet Teba was left for the last 4.5 years.

Teba's spirit is truly amazing. This dog was filthy from the pictures that were sent to us. She had not been to a vet since 2007 according to the vet records we received. She had never been given any heartworm preventatives. She has infected pressure sores on her legs. She was completely covered in ticks. There were ticks on ticks on this poor dog. She was so happy to be taken away from her prison, that her feet never touched the grass when we brought her out of her pen. She jumped straight from the concrete into the car and never looked back.

We took Teba directly to the vet. She was very emaciated and with all of the ticks on her we could not wait until morning. After examination of Teba, there was a small bit of good news. She wouldn't die from her ailments, but it will take a long time for her to recover.

Teba has a tick borne illness that must be treated with daily doses of antibiotics. She has intestinal worms. She has infected pressure sores on 3 of her legs that will require a long recovery. Her teeth are in desperate need of cleaning. And she has a very large skin tag hanging from her chest about the size of a pancake; that needs to be removed. But with all of this Teba is a fighter and still has an amazing spirit. And, Teba is heartworm negative. Now that is a true miracle!!

Because she will require extensive veterinary care we are asking our community for help with donations toward her care. No amount is too small. You can click the DONATE button on the right of the screen and indicate that your donation is for Teba.

If you would like to meet Teba in person, please contact our hotline to set up an appointment. Because she is so new to our rescue and still so unsure of herself we will not have her at our typical open houses.

I believe that we were sent to save Teba from the horrible conditions in which she lived. I know that she is grateful. She shows that to us everyday with the sweet look on her face and her wagging tail.

**UPDATE**

Teba is doing great and looking for her new home.  She is still unsure around other dogs and really doesn't like cats, but boy does she love her people.  This is truly one of the sweetest Great Danes I've seen in quite some time.

She is available for adoption now.  She will still need to be spayed and have the skin tag removed from her chest, which will all be done when she goes to her new home.  We want her to recover in her new home so that she can properly bond with her new family.
